Stretching Out:

The purpose of stretching a muscle is to develop it and maintain it. A muscle is only as capable as you decide to make it. Muscles need many things to grow and develop. They need strength, flexibility, dexterity, control, response, sensitivity, endurance, and vitality.

To stretch: find a muscle and move it until it is stretched and starting to feel painful. Hold in that position and breath in and out three times. Release and move on to the rest of the body. It only takes a few minutes and it feels so good. This will increase the oxygen in your muscles and give them needed flexibility and strength. Try and stretch every day especially if you are training that day.

I am starting a fitness program with Fitness Together in Mequon and Whitefish Bay. Here I have a personal trainer to help me target my goals and work on muscle coordination and control beyond anything I could ever figure out on my own. The trainers really know their stuff and challenge you just enough and keep you having fun at the same time. This is a great way to make sure you are properly caring for your body and assuring that you will do it.
